Impressing My Boyfriend’s Dad with a Rod Stewart Sweatshirt
By GangstaGirl
My boyfriend and I have been together for half a year now and he thinks that it is about time he brought me with him to his hometown over the weekend to meet his parents. He told me to pack for cold weather since he heard that it has been raining there so I decided to bring along with me my favorite Rod Stewart sweatshirt.
When my boyfriend picked me up and he saw that I was wearing a Rod Stewart hooded sweatshirt he had this small smile in his face and asked me where I got my Rod Stewart apparel. I told him that my Dad bought it for me when we watched Rod Stewart’s concert together in London last year. I wondered if that was a good or bad thing. I was getting paranoid and very nervous at the thought of finally meeting his parents. I was told that his Dad in particular was very picky when it came to girls. I would be the second girl he would be introducing to his parents. And I knew that the first one was not able to meet his Dad’s preferences.
On the way I quizzed my boyfriend about his parents and his Dad in particular. He was amused at my nervousness and told me to stay calm. After all they have already heard a lot about me thanks to his younger sister who was also a friend of mine. I tried to breathe deeply and let the comfort of my favorite sweatshirt soften me up.
When we finally got to their house, we were greeted at the door by his sister who hugged me and squeezed my hand for good luck probably. Then she saw my sweatshirt and laughed as she called her parents. I looked down to see if there was something wrong – a stain or a hole that I was not aware of but my sweatshirt looked fine.
Then I met his parents. Oddly, the first thing his Dad did was to comment on my sweatshirt as he led us inside the living room. That was when I saw all the Rod Stewart merchandise that was displayed there. My boyfriend’s Dad was no doubt a Rod Stewart fanatic like I was.
I immediately went over to look at the album collection that he has which was displayed in the center of all the Rod Stewart merchandise that he displayed. We immediately bonded over his music and I knew that he and I would get along. And as a sign that I had passed his standards, I was now invited to go home with my boyfriend for their family picnic every month.
